Maximizing E-Learning to Train the 21st Century Workforce
Before reading this article I did not think it was a good idea for e-learning. I didn't think that people would learn as much by themselves this way. Because there was no one with them being able to explain to them in person everthing that they didn't understand and to answer questions. But in this article they said pretty much the exact opposite. "According to Fortune Magazine, training that typically would take 6 to 9 months can be compressed to 2 to 3 weeks, thereby guaranteeing faster time-to market for products." Also according to Cisco after they regained all the money that was put into the new technology, they are now saving $4 million a year. So after looking at the results I don't think that theres any way to protest whats obviously working.

If you can minimize a work training from 6 to 9 months to 2 to 3 weeks than It sounds like other companies will be able to save lot more than that. But the question is are employees really learning in that short amount of time or Is it just another way for them to get out of training where they have to attend face to face sessions for 9 months? I personally recommend face to face training because I tend to understand very quickly and have my question answered, rather than trying to figure out myself. But that’s just my point of view, If big corporation can fit their training sessions and have it available over the internet for trainees than It would be more convenient and affordable for everyone.
